Katie's Journey Page/Merry Chirstmas!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to announce that I am going to be adding Katie's Journey to a different page, so that you can look at it with out having to search for it. : )  I am trying to work on Chapter 2, but I've had a little bit of a brain block... so you only have to wait a little bit longer! Haha! : )
I'm sorry that I didn't post on Christmas, but our family came down from Michigan, and I didn't have time. : /    But I guess it's never too late to wish you all a Merry Christmas!! : )  How was your Christmas and what do you usually do for your holiday?
Have a wonderful rest of the day, and I'll talk to you next year!  ; )

Busy Busy Busy!!!

I haven't posted in a while, but I have been really busy!  It seems that it's impossible to slow down lately, and I know that my family isn't the only one.  Why is it that the world says that homeschooled people aren't socialized, though it seems to us that we're running none-stop? : /
  ... I'm not sure...
I promise to post more after everything calms down!

I do have a couple questions for all of you. First, what did you think of the election?  You've sort of heard what I thought, but I'm curious what you think.  : )
Second, do you think it's a good idea if the 20 states decide to succeed from the Union and start our own conservative government?  Some people are afraid that it will start a civil war... what do you think? : )
If you haven't read an article about it, here's a link to a Yahoo! post. Click here to view it.
( I couldn't find one off of a conservative website, so I had to link this one. )

Those of you who are just seeing my blog for the first time, feel free to say what you feel!
I'm sorry for my sort of "political" post, but I hope you like it.  : )

Defeated!

I don't know what to say.......   I think that Romney deserved to win. I prayed that it would be so.  But unfortunately America chose Obama.  I have no idea what sort of damage our president will bring to our country, but I know that God knows best, and He'll take care of His people.  All we can do is pray that the Lord will open his eyes in these next four years.
All we can do is pray....  : )

First Chuch Of God Centennial Celebraiton! September 30-31

Hello! It's been a few days since I've posted, but I've finally found time to post. This last weekend has been REALLY busy at our church lately getting ready for our centennial celebration!  Here's the events we attended this weekend:

On Saturday night, we had a singing in our sanctuary.  All of the old pastors from the years past came back, and sang a few songs for us.
This is half of the Centennial Choir

This is our old youth pastor, Michal Mattocks.  His family has gone through some really hard times a few years ago.  He became really sick, and they didn't know what it was, until two years ago.  They have two sweet boys now, and live in Colorado. We see the family every once in a while, and we love them very much!

This is our current pastor, Andrew Rebein.

The man on the left is an old pastor, Brother Gable.  He became the pastor a little while after we started attending there.  He is a very sweet man, and really funny!

~
Then on Sunday, we had one combined service that morning.  Then that night, we had a big celebration out on our new church property.

Daddy lounging in a chair while listening to the Downing Family playing some gospel music. They played wonderful bluegrass gospel music!
The Downing Family

We took  our friend's little son, Keegan, that night.  Isn't he handsome? : )

He loved playing on the playtoy that looked like Noah's Ark

We stopped the swing so we could get a better shot.

The church bought a bunch of glow sticks, and Keegan loved them!

We ended the great evening with a beauiful firework show.

The funniest thing happened that night when the fireworks started.  I've never seen a baby fall asleep during fireworks!
~
Even though it was a great evening, I still know that we won't have many more left...
We are visiting more and more churches lately, and I'm still having hesitating thoughts about this.  I don't know about you, but Satan has been attacking our friends and family a lot lately.
If you didn't read my last post about our church, click here.

Please keep praying for our family.  I would really appreciate it! : )
Also keep praying for the leaders of our church.  That the Lord will open thier eyes, and turn it  all around!

Thank you again for the listening ear!

Polls Are Open!

Hey!  Good news!  My poll is now re-open, and I also have a new one that I have put on there. There will be more polls in the future... I'll just have to find out what to put on them. Ha ha! : )

I do have a question for you guys  who have polls on their own blogs though.  When I went to add another answer to the new poll, it just wouldn't let me click on it, and so that's why there's only two answers to choose from.  Any suggestions?

But please feel free to vote!
Thanks!

Could It Be?

Just wondering.....

Could these two small leaves that I found, be the first signs of Fall?  I hope so! : )
Fall is my favorite season for me, to admire God's creation. What's your favorite season of the year?  : )

Is it just me, or is this huge spider a little scary? We've found two of these in our backyard now! The other one is a little bit more large than this one
See the more white part of the web? If you look a little closer, it looks like writing, like in Charlot's Web! Cool, right?
OK... I'm done rambling for now! Ha ha! : )
Have a nice Sunday tomorrow!

Crazy Busy!!

I can't believe that the last time that I posted was on my birthday! I feel really bad, but we have been so busy lately.
This has been our schedule lately... Monday... school, Tuesday... Homeschool band in Tulsa, Wednesday... Dance all day in Tulsa ( I'll tell you more about that later ),  Thursday... Daddy's day off, and now band has now moved back to town, and but not least, Friday... catch up on school as much as possible! I know... that was kind of a run-on sentence, but I didn't know how to get all that in separate sentences. Ha ha! : )

How was your summer? I hope it was eventful.

My sister Erin and I, also had a craft show last  weekend. It was in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and it's called the Clothesline Fair. So we have been really busy with that. We actually went there early Friday, and set up our inventory. The craft show was Saturday through Monday, and a little tiring.  But it turned out very well! :  )
Also please pray for my family. We have been going to our home church for almost 16 years, and unfortunately we are in the early stages of finding a new one.  The church has gotten more and more liberal in the last 5 or 6 years.  It's a really long story of how we came to feel this way. But the gist of it is, they're getting so secretive, and impersonal. The sermons are very watered down, and there have been a lot of hurt feelings with the pastor. Again... it's a long story, but I would really appreciate your prayers! : )  I've selfishly been in denial for a long time, but I finally realized ( after a long tearful prayer ) that God is in control, and if He wants us to move somewhere else, than we should obey... it's just difficult.
On a happier subject, I've started dance back a few weeks ago, but I'm at one in Tulsa this year. A family we know through homescool and 4-H, go there, so that's cool that I actually know someone! :  ) It's a Christian based studio, and overall,  a lot more technique than I have ever had! I love it so far, and hope it will continue to be a positive experience.

Well.... I just have to say... I didn't mean to be so negative about my church. I respect a lot of people there, and that's why it's so hard for me to leave when it;s time. It's just been really heavy on my mind lately, and I felt like I needed to share my thoughts with someone!

Thanks for  listening! : )

Happy 4th!

Happy late 4th of July!  I was going to say it Wednesday, but we had a couple of  family friends over, and I never had time to post it! : )  But Daddy had an extra day off, and so he thought we should have a last moment pool party.  We had a wonderful time celebrating our country's birthday!
What did you do for your holiday?  :  )
Hope it was a great one!!!

Hollywood Dreamz Dance Recital 2012 - June 16

Hi!  I know that my last post was short and sweet, but that's because I've been so busy lately!  For the last few months I've been getting ready to preform at my dance recital that was a few weeks ago.  I've been dancing at this studio for 5 or 6 years now, but I've danced for almost 12 years!!
I'd like to share some of the pictures from the recital. : ) This years theme was " Hollywood Dreamz".

This is my best friend Ginger and I backstage before the recital.

This is the advanced class ballet. I'm on the far left. : )
I think my solo song this year was my favorite, out of all of them!
My song was "The Call" by Regina Spektor from the movie Prince Caspian! I love those movies! ; )

This is my whole class in the front, at the awards ceremony.  Behind them are all the girls in the whole studio.

These are the beautiful flowers that my friends gave me!
( Aren't they pretty? )

Remember my dance teacher, Wendi, who had breast cancer?  Well this is her!!
I said I had great news in my last post... well I wanted to tell you guys that she is now cancer free!!!!!
She had surgery in February or March, and it went wonderful!!
The owner of the studio, Stephanie,  thought that us big girls should preform a special dance in honor of how much we love Wendi! We wanted her to know that we will support her all the way through the whole ordeal! But the problem was that the dance was a secret! It was hard to keep it a secret, but it was worth it to see her face when we were through! : ) Thank you for all the prayers that you've said over her! Please continue to have her in your prayers! That the cancer will stay away, and that she would be healed.

Katie's Journey Chapter 1

Hi guys! This is my 1st chapter of Katie's Journey, and I hope you enjoy this too!  Just a heads up, I'm not quite finished with the 2nd chapter, but I'll try to post it soon! : )
Again... I REALLY want some criticism on this! So please feel free to say if anything doesn't sound right, or something doesn't add up in the story! Thanks!

Chapter 1  1618

A year and a half earlier....

Katie Cross sat looking out the window in her bed room. Since her father died two years ago, she often sat there and talked to him about her days at school or how she wished she could see his face. She was deep in thought when she heard her mother’s voice,

Katie , we need to speak with you!’’

Coming! ’’ she answered.

When she got to the kitchen, her mother and her twin

brother, Jacob were sitting at the table.

Sit down, Katie.” Mother said.

All right“ Katie said curiously.

When she sat at the kitchen table, Mother took her hand.

What is it, Mother?”,
As you know, your aunt and uncle are going to the New World.” Mother stated as Katie nodded.

Well… I’ve decided that we will be going along.”

No!” Katie explained as she quickly stood up.

Katie dear, your father’s been gone for over two years now , and I can’t care for you and Jacob on my own.” Mother said gently.

I am not not going with you!” Katie shouted loudly as she ran up the stairs.

~

Katie was sobbing on her cot when, she heard Jacob’s gentle voice behind her.

“ Katie , are you all right?”

“ Go away! ”, she yelled as she sat up.

She instantly felt ashamed about speaking to her brother so disrespectfully.

“ What’s wrong? ” Jacob questioned her gently.

“ Nothing!”, She answered. “I just want to be alone! ”

Nothing’s the matter , Katie? If there’s nothing wrong, then why did you yell at Mother? You’ve never yelled at her before, Katie.” he stated more sternly.

You’d be frustrated with her too if she made you leave the only home you’ve

ever known!” Katie sobbed.

“ Don’t be so dramatic, Katie. Do you think I want to leave our home either? Mother is doing what she thinks Father would want for us if he were here!”

“ You don’t seem too upset about it. ” she answered as she folded her arms.

Katie, you’re acting like a child!”, Jacob almost yelled.

They had never fought like that before. Katie looked up at him with a sad, tear stained face and whispered,

Oh Jacob, I don’t want to leave Father.”

Then she started sobbing again and threw herself on a pillow. Jacob’s face softened as he sat next to her on the cot.

Knowing how hard Katie took their father’s death, he tried to calm her.

Katie, don’t cry.” he soothed her gently. “ Father wouldn’t want you to be vexed, now would he?”

Katie sat there as if she were pondering his words. Then she sat up and gave him a little smile.

No … I suppose he wouldn’t. Go tell Mother I’ll be down for supper, all right?”

Jacob nodded and smiled as he went to leave the room.

“         Jacob?” Katie said.

“      Yes?”

She sat there for a second then said to him,

“    Thank you.” she whispered.

Jacob nodded and then left the room.

Thank you for letting me share  my story! I hope you enjoyed it!!  Sorry the arrangment is kind of messed up!

Katie's Journey Prologue

Hey guys!! I have started to write a book in the last few years, and I'd like to share the prologue with you!! : )  I am willing to receive any kind of criticism you can give me... trust me I need it!! Ha ha!
I hope you like it, I might post first chapter in the next couple of days. Enjoy!

  Prologue 1620

As Katie Cross stood along side her family and friends on the deck of the Mayflower, on the shore of Plymouth, England, she looked back a her homeland, and she wandered if they would ever see it again. But deep down inside, she knew they wouldn’t. They were traveling to the New World for religious freedom and a new life. She was both scared and excited at the same time... all of them were. Her twin brother Jacob came to stand beside her, as she looked over the railing of the ship, trying to hide the tears that threatened to spill over. He seemed to feel the same tension that she felt, and he looked at her and whispered quietly, “ Everything is going to be alright, Katie.” Jacob gave her a little smile. She smiled back at him, and said, “ I know, Jacob... as long as we are all together!”

She and her brother had been close ever sense they were little children, but especially when their father passed away almost 3 years ago, they became even closer. Their mother, Sarah, came to stand beside them, she put her arm around them both and asked, “ Are you ready, children? The Captain just announced that we will be leaving in about five minutes,” she smiled at them with an almost sad look in her eyes. Then Katie suggested, “ Why don't we all pray together, Mother,” their mother smiled at her and exclaimed, “What a great idea, Katie! Jacob? Why don't you go get Charles's family here, and we'll pray.”

“Yes, Mother”

When they were all together, Charles's mother, Helen, said, “ Will you please say the blessing, Charles?”

“Of course, Mother,” He said as everyone took hands, “Dear Gracious and Heavenly Father, we come here before You, to ask for protection. Protection for us and the other families on this ship, while seeking religious freedom, and for our friends and family here at home. That they will be strong enough to withhold this

persecution, that they might look to you for strength. And give us strength as we go on to the New World without some of our loved ones, living and deceased. In Your Name we pray, Amen.”

She felt someone squeeze her hand. Katie suddenly had tears in her eyes, and as everyone started to drop hands, she noticed Charles had not yet let hers go. He was looking at her with the same sadness she was feeling. Charles never said anything, but she could almost read his expression, which said,

“I know what you're feeling, Katie, and we can make it through together.”

Katie gave him a slight smile and mouthed, “Thank you, Charles.”

He squeezed her hand again, and then went to be with his family. As she stood there thinking, she realized that the boat was moving. She started to wave at everyone on shore, and silently prayed, “ Lord, we are all in your hands now! Keep us all safe, I trust you will.”

But even as she said it, she had this awful feeling that not all of the people on the Mayflower would make it to see freedom, and it made her uneasy. But what she didn't know, was that this voyage would change her life forever!

Please comment and let me know how you liked it!
            Thanks!

We didn't want to leave, but we knew that it was time to go home, and we would be back.  It really was a blessing from the Lord that we were able to go, and I am very grateful to Him for it!!

Here is the link to the Fort Rock Family Camp website, and I really do encourage your family to take this trip. It will bring your family closer to each other and closer to God also!
